Chicken pox, schmicken pox... :(

So yesterday it appeared that I spoke too soon about Leila taking the pox so well. Last night was a disaster trying to get her to sleep. She went to bed on her own really well at 8:30 but right as I was falling asleep at 11 she woke up screaming. I fed her and tried to comfort her, but she just wasn't having it. When I tried to lie her down she would just thrash around rather violently and so I put her in bed with me. I never sleep very well with her in bed and she woke up about 4 or 5 times to eat. Between her waking up so much, and poor Kolt's cough, I just didn't get much sleep at all.

Today she had times where she was her wonderfully happy self, and other times where she would just scream. It really made me appreciate just how good of a baby she is because this was completely foreign to me and honestly, just broke my heart. Poor baby. She didn't scream all day, just intermittently thank goodness. I only hope that it isn't going to get worse. We dosed her up on tylenol for her fever tonight, and some benadryl to help with the itchiness right before bed. Hopefully she'll sleep. She's lying back there peacefully now, I only pray it lasts. If it doesn't, well then I'll be even more tired tomorrow. Kolt is working tomorrow night but then has a four day weekend, maybe he'll give me a chance to nap on one of those days off.

I do think that I really want to at least do a little something for Christmas. We don't have to get an eight foot tree and spend a fortune on ornaments, but I would like to get a little tree and decorate it. My mother in law made a good point in saying that Kolt may not even be home for Christmas next year (a thought that breaks my heart) and so we need to make this first one special. He is working the days surrounding Christmas and Christmas itself though, just like last year :( But hopefully we'll have a chance to celebrate later on that morning.

My other holiday dilemma stems from wanting to get in the Christmas spirit by baking yummy goodies. I am trying SO hard to eat well and lose weight, I don't want to lose my momentum just because it's the holidays. Kolt also has a PT test sometime in December and I'm sure he'd appreciate not being tempted by lots of junk as well. We don't really even have any neighbors to take it to as everyone moved out this past summer. So if anyone has some healthier holiday goody options, I am ALL ears :)

  1. Yeah, I know of nothing healthy for Christmas baking. No help there.

I agree that you should make this a special Christmas. Leila won't remember, but you will. Go for it!

Sean STILL doesn't have a holiday schedule. They're probably holding out on people b/c they know there will be backlash if they screw people.

Poor Leila. Her cry is already pitiful. I can only imagine how she has perfected the lip poke after a case of chicken pox. :(
