Not much to report

Unfortunately there's still not a whole lot going on. Sgt Bursee hasn't gotten back to us about a date for Kolt's interview. Sometimes it REALLY bothers me that he won't communicate with us, but it's usually because he has nothing to report. When something happens, he gets the info to us immediately, so I suppose that means he doesn't have the interview set up yet. It should be within the next three weeks from my understanding. I'll let you know as soon as we do.

I had an interview with Priestly Mental Health that went really well. My old boss even told me they called to get a reference from her and she went on and on about how great I was. I have yet to hear from them however, and it is INFURIATING. I mean, I guess I really do like not working so that when Kolt's home we can spend all our time together, but at the same time, I'm getting awfully bored not having anything to do when he's gone. A very good friend of mine advised me to just sit back and wait, especially since we know they went to the effort to contact my references. They must just be busy and will call me if they need me, and if not, bugging them about it won't help. So I'm trying to just go with the flow and leave it for now. In the mean time I'll just continue to try and pick up shifts at UNI to help supplement our income.

I have another good friend that blogs on here that is using her blog to update everyone on her weight loss progress. This way she has some accountability to others by keeping them in the loop. I think this is probably a good idea for me. Tomorrow is June 1st, the start of a new month and a Monday, both GREAT times to get back into the swing of things. I have continued to run and exercise but not on a consistent basis. I don't think I'm brave enough to post my weight on here for everyone in the world to see...but I do think I'll check in every Monday with my loss numbers. I figure at this point, I have about 6 months until we move to wherever it is that we're going, and at that point we will start trying to have a baby again. So I have 6 months to get myself into shape. That's PLENTY of time. I want to have a realistic goal set, but then also kind of a shoot for the stars goal and we'll see where I land. So my realistic goal is 40 lbs in 6 months, that's about 7 lbs a month which is definitely doable. My shoot for the starts goal is 60lbs, which is 10 a month, which is also doable but I don't want to overwhelm myself by setting my goals too high. So I guess next Monday will be my first check in with my loss numbers. If i don't do it, reply to this post and make me!

Minor setback, but no biggie

Ok, so Kolt isn't having his interview this Friday :( I guess the Chief Nurse was reassigned somewhere else and the temporary replacement can't meet with him until mid June. Probably around the 19th or so. It's not a big deal, it just means we have to wait longer to submit his application and wait longer to know where we are going. BUT the recruiter said it's pretty much guaranteed he's in so to plan on training in October! That made me so happy and replaced my anxiety over moving the interview. I am SO happy to finally be able to plan on this and have a date. This means we will be moving right before Thanksgiving. I couldn't be happier! This way Kolt doesn't have to be in Alabama when it's 100 degrees out and he still gets a little hunting in before we go away. Pretty much everything we were hoping for.

Now we just have to wait until the end of July to find out where we are going. We're pretty certain it will be Lackland, AFB in San Antonio, but you never know. I am particularly anxious to find out because I've pretty much decided that when we get where we're going I want to finish school and get my Master's Degree. Depending on where we go and what schools are available will determine the program, but this is really the perfect time for me. I won't need to be working since we will have almost no debt and no house payment or utilities, so I can focus entirely on school. If I can go full time most programs are only around 30-40 credit hours and most of the last year is practicum hours. Even if we want to have a baby (which make no mistake, I do) I think we will be able to work this into it. But, I can't make any concrete plans until I know what schools I will have available to me.

At this point I can say that I am very happy with our lives. We finally have a future and direction, I am really excited about going back to school, we can start a family, we get to move away and start a new adventure. Over all things are looking great. I may have a job by the end of this week, in Preston, which is exactly what I wanted. I'll let you all know as soon as I do what's going on with that!

My Brother's Wedding

My big brother, Jacob, got married yesterday. It was so much fun getting to see family I haven't seen in years. My grandmother and aunt flew in from Dallas to make it. My uncle drove down from Montana, and my sister flew out from Wisconsin! It was a great little family reunion and we all had a blast! It was really too bad that Kolt had to work, I missed him!

He PASSED!

Ok, so I was trying to wait to post this until I had some good news of my own, but that can wait. Kolt has officially passed his military physical and we can FINALLY move on with the rest of the process of applying to the Air Force Nurse Corps. He will interview on the 22nd with the Chief Nurse (which I imagine will go amazingly well) and then we finalize and submit his application that day as well. The selection committee meets twice a month, but I don't know when exactly, so I would guess we'll hear back mid-June.

If all goes according to plan, then Kolt will go to 4 weeks of commissioned officer training (COT) in Alabama on October 19th. We will then move right before Thanksgiving (I would guess) to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He is signing on for 3 years, and then will go to graduate school to become a nurse anesthetist. I know this is all if everything goes perfectly, so it is subject to change and don't quote me on any of it. I am just SO thrilled that we are moving forward at last.

My good news will hopefully come tomorrow or the next day. I had a follow up job interview with Bear River Mental Health and feel it went VERY well. I am planning on getting a job offer tomorrow! But if not, that's ok too. I'll find something soon enough.
